Roadmap to Wellness
February 11, 2019
If we want to really advance change in Chicago's mental health system, we have to think bigger.
Over the last few years, there have been important discussions in Chicago around mental health and trauma support, advanced training, and stigma reduction for mental health. These are important steps, but they are only a beginning.
NAMI Chicago and our partners have produced a Roadmap to Wellness to lay out our vision for a vibrant, well city. This report, released in the midst of Chicago’s 2019 municipal elections, calls for the City Council and the next mayor to make mental health a priority. It reframes mental health care as primary health care, and connects it to many of Chicago’s other key issues including housing, employment, violence and education.
The Roadmap to Wellness has received significant sign-on support in 2019, including the organizations and entities that follow.
