In the meantime, if you'd like to support NAMI Chicago, please consider attending Light the Darkness, our annual awards dinner on April 25th. While NAMI Chicago is not a certification site for the Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential, certain volunteer activities may count towards your certification hours. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with questions. For more information on CRSS requirements, click here.
Real stories change hearts and minds. When people share stories of recovery, struggle or hope, it lets all of us know that we're not alone. NAMI Chicago speakers break the stigma of mental health conditions by telling their stories in a variety of our training and education programs, including Ending the Silence, CIT and First Responder Training, Bridges of Hope, and Compartiendo Esperanza. For more information about these programs, click here. To get involved, begin by filling out the volunteer interest form above.
Educate community groups and student groups about the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions by becoming a presenter in a NAMI Chicago program! No clinical experience needed; we provide the training. To get involved, begin by filling out the volunteer interest form above.
Role Play for First Responder Training
Bring your experiences to life! Act out scenarios in a team to help Chicago first responders practice responding appropriately to a mental health crisis. Come behind the scenes and help the NAMI Chicago team in the office! Legislative Action Alerts
An important part of our work at NAMI Chicago is the role we play as advocates for better quality mental health services, a more comprehensive system that is fully funded, and the support services needed to live in recovery. You can get involved by connecting with your legislators to share the impact of the need for strong mental health services. To receive legislative action alerts, click here.
NAMI Smarts for Advocacy will enhance your advocacy skills and help you shape a powerful and personal story that will move policymakers. In this hands on, two-hour session, you’ll craft your story and gain confidence to share your story with policy makers.
Thank you for getting involved!
