Writer/Director, The Year Between

Alex Heller is a bipolar writer/director from the south suburbs of Chicago. Her semi-autobiographical feature comedy The Year Between premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival. Alex is a Sundance Feature Film fellow and an alum of the Tribeca Film Institute Network and Untold Stories program. Vulture named Alex a "Rising Filmmaker Every Cinephile Should Have on Their Radar" in 2018. On Instagram, Alex is known as @thementallytrillest, where she creates mental illness memes for thousands of followers. Alex graduated from Northwestern University in 2015. Now based in LA, she lived in Illinois for a magical 27 years
