Light the Darkness
Join us on September 17 for NAMI Chicago’s annual gala bringing our community together in support of mental health.
What is Light the Darkness?
Light the Darkness is NAMI Chicago’s annual gala, bringing together supporters, partners, and community members to raise vital awareness and funds for mental health across Chicago.
Light the Darkness 2026 was a night to remember, made possible by the incredible generosity of our community — together, we raised nearly $700,000 for mental health care, advocacy, and support right here in Chicago. If you weren’t able to give that evening or simply want to keep the momentum going, it’s not too late — you can still donate and help NAMI Chicago bring hope and support to those who need it most.
2025 Event Highlights
Hosted by Rufus Williams, last year’s Light the Darkness brought together leaders and community members at a critical time for mental health in Chicago, when many people were navigating crisis, loss, and systems that don’t always work. The evening centered on bringing mental health out of the shadows and showing up for one another. It honored Dr. Ngozi O. Ezike, Representative Lindsey LaPointe, the Chicago Public Library, and the Institute for Nonviolence Chicago, and recognized our outgoing CEO for her leadership and impact.
