HONOREE HIGHLIGHT: REPRESENTATIVE LINDSEY LAPOINTE
State Representative Lindsey LaPointe is a social worker turned public policy professional with a breadth of experience in human services, state government, policy advocacy, and community and political work. She serves the far Northwest side of Chicago and brings a social worker’s accessibility and compassion to constituent services and policy making. Before taking office in July of 2019, Lindsey served in a variety of direct service social work roles. After earning an MSW at the Jane Addams College of Social Work in 2011, she transitioned to policy work, focusing on the creation of a more rehabilitative and just criminal justice system.
In the neighborhood, she works alongside neighbors on various projects including homelessness and affordable housing, the environment, and senior issues. In Springfield, she champions accessible and affordable behavioral healthcare, increased housing options, and a fully resourced human service system. Today, she Chairs the Mental Health & Addiction Committee in the Illinois House and sits on the Medicaid Working Group. She resides in the heart of the 19th district - Portage Park.
Join NAMI Chicago for our much-anticipated Light the Darkness gala, a night dedicated to illuminating the path toward mental health awareness and support. Attendees will experience an inspiring evening filled with hope and community spirit. We will be honoring four outstanding leaders: Dr. Ngozi O. Ezike, Representative Lindsey LaPointe, Chicago Public Library, and the Institute for Nonviolence Chicago. Together, we will raise crucial funds to support mental health initiatives, ensuring that no one faces their struggles alone. Be part of this transformative evening and help us light the way for those in need!
